2008 Presbytery Peacemaking Grants
It’s time to apply for the Mission & Advocacy’s 2008 Presbytery Peacemaking Grants.
The total amount available in 2008 for all grants is $1,000. Grants are available for congregations whose funding requests meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Program that responds to the needs of people with high vulnerability through direct service
- Program that promotes systemic change to promote justice and to challenge the economic, social, and political forces that oppress people and the environment
- Program that resources congregations, encouraging and supporting their efforts at peacemaking, advocacy, and involvement in public issues

Application Process

- Applications sent to churches no later than March 1. The grant cycle deadline for applications will be May 1
- Funding requests must be received in writing by the deadline and provide the Mission & Advocacy Committee with information requested on the enclosed form. No late applications will be considered.
- Persons, churches, and agencies that have received grants in previous years are not guaranteed funding.
- Applicants must agree to file a written report on use of funds and be available for mission interpretation.
- A ministry team appointed by the Presbytery's Mission & Advocacy Committee will review applications and make recommendations for funding to the committee. The committee will consider these recommendations at their May meeting.
- A liaison from the committee will be assigned to each recipient to ensure that a written report is received following the use of funds. The liaison will insure that an article promoting the recipient's availability for mission interpretation is included in InfoPak within three months.
Applicants will be notified as soon as possible following committee review. A cover letter will be sent informing recipient of the amount of funding, the name of the committee liaison, directions for filing a written report, and a check. A suggested reporting form will be enclosed. Applicants not receiving grants will also be notified.
