Purpose of the Foundation

The Presbyterian Foundation of Genesee Valley (PFGV) was created in 1986 by the Presbytery of Genesee Valley (PGV). Our mission is to assist the churches and agencies of our Presbytery in the development, management and continuing support of endowment policies and planned giving programs to provide future resources for the ministry and mission of the Church.

A strong endowment policy and fund will provide for the future financial security of God’s mission in your Church and community.

Our goals are

The Foundation’s purpose is to supplement and assist the programs of the individual churches, rather than to replace them or compete with them. Our program also indirectly assists the Trustees’ Revolving Loan Fund, since individual churches that develop and nurture their own endowment funds will have a lessened need to rely on help from the Revolving Loan Fund and other Presbytery resources.

Among its purposes the PFGV receives gifts for and distributes income from a permanent endowment fund “… to support the establishment of new Presbytery Mission programs as well as to support, enhance and expand existing mission programs.”

Services

To further the Presbyterian Foundation’s mission in assisting the churches and agencies of our Presbytery in the development, management and continuing support of endowment policies and planned giving programs we offer the services of an Endowment Facilitator.

The endowment Facilitator supports the local work of the Presbyterian Foundation of Genesee Valley through the following objectives:

Presbytery of Genesee Valley Endowment Policy

Mission Statement

This policy is to provide guidelines to establish and administer an Endowment Fund for the Presbytery of Genesee Valley. The Fund is established to provide a vehicle for individuals who are committed to the Mission of the Presbytery and to provide ongoing support for the growing needs of these Mission causes. The resources needed to continue this work depend on caring people planning for the future by using structures such as the Presbytery Endowment Fund.

Purpose

The purpose of the Fund is to establish a structure for the acceptance of gifts to benefit Presbytery Mission and to educate individuals about the options available in making special gifts to the Presbytery. The Fund is intended to be used to support the establishment of new Presbytery Mission programs as well as to support, enhance and expand existing mission programs. At no time is this Fund meant to discourage annual presbytery-wide or local church mission giving.
